Cold as Ice

Cold as ice,

why can’t you be nice?

Why are you as cold-

cold as ice?

The sorrows your heart does hold,

I won’t pretend-

I see your heart-

it’s as cold as ice.

You hide your hurt

behind a sheer, cold hard mask.

You’re frigid

and yet so fragile.

You’re so cold and hard,

cold as ice.

When will it all melt away?

After winter

There is a spring,

always a spring.

Will you tell me

when will it all melt away?

Cold as ice,

why can’t you be nice?

Why are you as cold-

cold as ice?

But you have never been warm,

loving or kind,

never to me.

No compassion

and no concern,

no love in your countenance.

You’re frigid

and yet so fragile.

You’re so cold and hard,

cold as ice.

I want to love you, sister,

but you hate me

and despise me,

push me away.

What can I do?

So what can I do for you?

Cold as ice,

why can’t you be nice?

Why are you as cold-

cold as ice?

    1. That’s the thing. The people this poem was about might not realize that they were being insensitive. They might not have known that I felt like this. This is just my view of the situation, and how I verbalized my feelings and thoughts.
